docSite is a document-based website generator.

Starting point

Many websites today are created directly in complex interfaces. You write, sort, design, move, and configure at the same time.

docSite deliberately separates these layers from one another.

• The document remains the place for content and structure.
• The theme in docSite handles design and presentation.
• The generator builds a reproducible website from it.

As a result, the process is: First think and write. Then generate.

Current status

The generator creates a multi-page website from a DOCX file with navigation, page structure, metadata, images, optional search, forms, multilingual support, and static output. The website works without a database and without a continuously running editorial system. It can be generated locally, reviewed, and then published to a web server.

docSite is thus not a traditional CMS. DocSite is a tool for structured publications: lean, traceable, and controllable.

From the DOCX, the system derives the following:

• which pages are created
• how the navigation is structured
• which content belongs together
• which elements are rendered as images, galleries, notices, tables, or forms
• which content needs to be translated or technically protected

The presentation is not in the document; it is controlled via a theme. This keeps content, structure, layout, and design cleanly separated.

Currently, the system supports, among other things:

• notices, buttons, tables, and accordion sections
• internal linking
• search index
• notice form
• basic shop and product logic
• multilingual output with language-specific URLs
• project-specific translation cache
• local preview via a desktop app

docSite reduces dependence on platforms. The content is not stored in a CMS, not in a database, and not in a closed site builder system. All content resides in a single document.
