Shadow World - Diorama
A compact, modular diorama base for fantasy figures – minimal, robust, and intended as a calm stage for play and display.
Starting point
The idea arose from a very specific wish: to create a small, self-contained world for existing fantasy figures. It should be quiet, self-contained, and work independently of pre-made playsets.
Since there was nothing suitable to buy, the environment was designed in Blender. Not as a replica of an existing world, but as a neutral stage that allows for play and display equally.
Result
The result is a compact, modular diorama base that combines dark surfaces with crystalline forms.
The landscape is deliberately pared back. A clear basic form, fractured structures, and a few striking elements create a distinct atmosphere without prescribing a specific narrative.
This creates a small world that quietly frames figures and scenes while leaving room for imagination.
Key learnings
Initially, the crystal parts were bonded using a hot glue gun. This adhesive joint (PLA to PLA) proved not very strong. A suitable adhesive therefore had to be found; UHU Allplast was then used successfully.
