Democracy column
This democracy column is a small experiment with a clear form.
At the center is a simple tube that collects votes. The associated tokens form the visible and tangible element of the system: small, reduced, and consciously without technical mediation.
The tokens translate abstract decisions into a simple action. Approval, abstention, or rejection are not clicked but dropped in. Color and symbolism are kept clear and avoid interpretation. This creates a calm, understandable voting process that is particularly suitable for groups, workshops, or educational contexts.
Design-wise, the tokens are deliberately simple. They consist of two printed parts – front and back – that are connected together. This two-part nature gives them weight and stability and ensures that they feel valuable and balanced in everyday life. The connection is made permanently with UHU-Allplast, without visible fastening elements.
In interaction with the column, a system is created that makes decisions visible without dramatizing them. No display, no sound, no pressure to speed. Instead, a tactile tool that promotes participation and allows space for conscious decisions. A small, pragmatic project – born from the question of how democracy can become more tangible without making it louder.
